Free GST bill maker: make a shop bill online in a minute

By the Tap & Bill team · Updated · हिंदी में

How do I make a GST bill online for free?

Type your shop name and GSTIN, the customer, and each item with its quantity and price in the bill maker below. It works out GST on every item (for clothes and footwear: 5% when one piece sells for ₹2,500 or less, 18% above, even when the MRP already includes GST), splits it into CGST and SGST, writes the total in words, and lets you print the bill, save it as a PDF or send it on WhatsApp. It is free, needs no login, and the bill stays on your device.

How to make a GST bill with this maker

  1. Fill in your shop once

Shop name, address, mobile and GSTIN if you are registered. They stay in your browser for the next bill.

  2. Add the customer

Name and mobile number (needed for WhatsApp). For a business buyer, add their GSTIN. Leave empty for a walk-in customer.

  3. Pick the GST setting

Clothes rule (5% up to ₹2,500 a piece, 18% above), one rate for every item, or a bill without GST. Say whether your prices are MRP with GST or before GST.

  4. Type the items

Name, HSN (optional), quantity and the price of one piece. Change GST on a line if that item has its own rate, such as a belt at 18%.

  5. Print, save or send

Print on A4 or an 80 mm / 58 mm thermal printer, choose “Save as PDF”, or send the bill as a WhatsApp message to the customer’s number.

Worked example: a clothing shop bill with 5% and 18%

Priya buys two cotton shirts with an MRP of ₹999 each and a blazer with an MRP of ₹3,000. The tags already include GST, so the bill total is the sum of the tags: ₹4,998. The GST inside it is different for each item:

ItemOne piece without GSTRateTaxable valueCGST + SGST
Cotton shirt × 2 (₹1,998)₹951.43: ₹2,500 or less5%₹1,902.86₹47.57 + ₹47.57
Blazer × 1 (₹3,000)₹2,542.37: above ₹2,50018%₹2,542.37₹228.82 + ₹228.81
Bill₹4,445.23₹552.77 GST in total

If the same prices were before GST, the shop would add GST on top: ₹1,998 + 5% = ₹2,097.90 and ₹3,000 + 18% = ₹3,540, so the customer pays ₹5,638 (rounded). Here is the bill the maker draws for the MRP version:

Free bill maker or a billing app?

The bill maker is good for the odd bill, a new shop, or checking GST. A shop that bills every day usually outgrows it because nothing is saved. An honest comparison:

Frequently asked questions

Is this GST bill maker really free? Do I need to log in?

Yes, it is free, with no login, no sign-up and no watermark. You can make as many bills as you want. The only optional line on the bill, “Bill made free at tapandbill.in”, can be switched off.

Is my bill saved anywhere? Can Tap & Bill see it?

No. The bill is worked out and drawn in your browser; nothing is sent to us. Only your shop details and the last bill number are kept in this browser (localStorage) so the next bill is quicker. “Forget my shop details” removes them. If you print or save the PDF, keep your own copy: the tool has no bill history.

How does it work out GST on clothes?

Like the Tap & Bill app: each item is checked on the value of one piece, after its share of the bill discount and without GST. ₹2,500 or less is 5%, above ₹2,500 is 18% (rates from 22 September 2025). With MRP prices, the GST is taken out of the price: a ₹999 shirt has ₹47.57 GST inside it. Items with their own rate (belts, bags, perfume) can be set by hand. More: GST on clothes: 5% or 18%?

Can I make a bill without GST?

Yes. Choose “Bill without GST”: the bill shows no GSTIN and no tax lines, with the title BILL. That is the right bill for a shop that is not registered for GST. Composition dealers must print “Bill of Supply”, which this tool does not do. See bill without a GST number.

Can I print the bill on a thermal printer?

Yes, from a computer or phone where the printer is installed: choose 80 mm or 58 mm under Paper, press Print and pick the printer. The page is cut to the bill’s length. Bluetooth printers paired only to a phone app usually don’t show in the browser; the Tap & Bill app prints to them directly.

How do I send the bill on WhatsApp?

Type the customer’s mobile number and press “Send on WhatsApp”. WhatsApp opens on that chat with the bill as a text message (items, GST, total, payment). Press send. To send a PDF, save it from the print window and attach it. The Tap & Bill app sends a bill PDF link in one tap.

Is a bill from this maker a valid GST invoice?

It prints the fields Rule 46 of the CGST Rules asks for on a retail tax invoice when you fill them in: GSTIN, a bill number, date, item, HSN, quantity, taxable value, rate and CGST + SGST. You must keep bill numbers in one series per financial year and keep copies; check your format with your CA. Checklist: GST bill format for clothing shops.

Does it make IGST bills for customers in another state?

No. It splits GST into CGST and SGST, which is right for sales within your state, the usual counter sale. For an inter-state sale (IGST), use your accounting software or ask your CA. The Tap & Bill app also makes intra-state bills only.
