For cosmetics, beauty and imitation jewellery shops

Billing software for cosmetics and imitation jewellery shops

Which billing software is good for a cosmetics and imitation jewellery shop?

One that handles different GST rates on one bill and many small pieces in shades and designs. In Tap & Bill, give each category its own GST rate (imitation jewellery 3%, shampoo 5%, make-up 18%) and every line gets the right tax; on the Growth or Pro plan, add shades and sizes as colours and sizes with their own barcode labels; and send the bill on WhatsApp. It does not track batches or expiry dates.

What a cosmetics and jewellery counter needs

Three GST rates on one bill

Give each category a fixed rate on Prices & categories. A necklace set at 3%, shampoo at 5% and lipstick at 18% print as separate GST rows on one bill.

Hundreds of shades and designs

With Stock & barcodes on (Growth and Pro), a lipstick or bangle design gets its shades as colours and its sizes (2.4, 2.6, 2.8), each with a barcode and stock count.

Small pieces, small tags

Print 38 × 25 mm labels on a label printer, or scan the barcode already printed on branded cosmetics.

Bargaining on jewellery

Mol-Bhav Guard: a lowest price per category or design; a staff bill below it needs your PIN.

She is still choosing earrings

Tap Hold and bill the next customer; open the held bill when she is ready. Up to 10 bills can wait on that phone or computer.

Festival and wedding season

Send offers on WhatsApp to customers who opted in (bulk WhatsApp offers, Growth and Pro).

Make-up, lipstick, skin care (HSN 3304)18%The shop rule: Same rate on everything, 18%

With MRP prices (“with GST” in the settings), the customer pays the MRP and Tap & Bill takes out the right tax on each line:

LineMRPRateGST in the price
Kundan necklace set₹1,2503%₹36.41
Oxidised earrings₹2993%₹8.71
Matte lipstick₹49918%₹76.12
Shampoo₹2995%₹14.24
Customer pays₹2,347₹135.48

The bill prints one GST row per rate: 3% on ₹1,503.88 (CGST ₹22.56 + SGST ₹22.56), 5% on ₹284.76 (₹7.12 + ₹7.12) and 18% on ₹422.88 (₹38.06 + ₹38.06). With one 18% rate on everything, the same ₹2,347 would carry ₹358.02 of GST: the customer pays the same MRP, and the extra ₹222.54 comes out of your margin. Confirm rates and HSN codes with your CA.

Questions from cosmetics & jewellery shops

What is the GST rate on imitation jewellery?

Imitation jewellery (HSN 7117) carries 3% GST, shown as 1.5% CGST + 1.5% SGST. In Tap & Bill, give the jewellery categories a fixed 3% rate on Prices & categories. Confirm with your CA.

Can one bill have items at 3%, 5% and 18% GST?

Yes. Each category can have its own fixed rate, and the bill shows one GST row per rate with CGST and SGST. Lines typed on Quick bill follow the shop rate, so set that to the rate of most of your items.

Does Tap & Bill track expiry dates of cosmetics?

No. There are no batch or expiry fields. Stock & barcodes counts pieces by shade and size only.

Can I print small barcode labels for jewellery?

Yes, with Stock & barcodes (Growth and Pro): 38 × 25 mm or 50 × 25 mm labels on a TSPL label printer from the Android app, label rolls or A4 sheets from a computer, or your 58 mm bill printer. Each label has a Code 128 barcode and a small QR code.

Can I bill real gold or silver jewellery?

No. There is no weight, purity, making charge or HUID billing, and quantities are whole numbers. Tap & Bill suits imitation, fashion and oxidised jewellery sold at a fixed price.

Do I need stock and barcodes to start?

No. Bill by tapping categories or typing prices on Quick bill from day one, with the right GST rate per category. Switch on Stock & barcodes later on Growth or Pro.
