Tiles for your top sellers (Notebook, Pen, Geometry Box) and the Quick bill keypad for everything else: type the price, add a name if you like.
For gift, toy, stationery and book shops
What is the easiest billing software for a gift and stationery shop?
One where you don’t have to enter every pen and notebook before the first bill. In Tap & Bill, keep tiles for what sells most, type the rest on the Quick bill keypad, and give each category its own GST rate, because notebooks, toys and pens are taxed differently since September 2025. Scan printed barcodes with Stock & barcodes on the Growth or Pro plan, and send the bill on WhatsApp.
Tiles for your top sellers (Notebook, Pen, Geometry Box) and the Quick bill keypad for everything else: type the price, add a name if you like.
Give each category its own rate: 0% for notebooks, 5% for toys, 18% for pens. Quick bill lines follow the shop rate, so set that to your most common rate.
Tap Hold while a parent fetches one more item and bill the next customer. Several phones can bill into one account; walk-in bills need no number.
With Stock & barcodes (Growth and Pro), save the printed barcode on a toy or a pack of pens and scan it.
Put a bulk order on udhaar, collect at month end and send a WhatsApp reminder with your UPI ID.
Reports show top categories by sales and pieces for any day, week or month. Sales reports.
Pick “Other” as the shop type at sign-up and add your categories with default prices and GST rates, or we set them up with you on a demo call. A typical setup:

A school-season bill at MRP (prices “with GST”, shop rule 18%):
| Line | Amount | Rate | GST in the price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Notebooks × 6 at ₹45 | ₹270 | 0% | ₹0 |
| Geometry box | ₹150 | 5% | ₹7.14 |
| Gel pens × 5 at ₹10 | ₹50 | 18% | ₹7.63 |
| Soft toy | ₹499 | 5% | ₹23.76 |
| Remote control car | ₹1,199 | 18% | ₹182.90 |
| Customer pays | ₹2,168 | ₹221.43 |
The bill prints a GST row per rate: 5% on ₹618.10 (CGST ₹15.45 + SGST ₹15.45) and 18% on ₹1,058.47 (₹95.27 + ₹95.26), with the ₹270 of notebooks at 0%. One 18% rate on everything would have put ₹330.71 of GST on the same ₹2,168, about ₹109 more out of your margin. Rates here are a guide from tax sites; confirm them with your CA.

Since 22 September 2025, notebooks, exercise books, pencils, sharpeners, erasers and crayons are listed at nil GST, geometry boxes and colour boxes at 5%, and pens and markers at 18%. Non-electronic toys are 5% and electronic toys 18%. Confirm with your CA.

Yes, as its own item. Stock counts whole pieces and does not convert a box into pieces, so keep “Pencil” and “Pencil box of 10” as two items with their own prices.
Yes. Hold a bill while a parent picks more, bill walk-in customers without a number, and bill on several phones into one account (Basic has 1 login, Starter 2, Growth 5).
