Cheapest billing software in India: real prices for small shops (2026)
Which is the cheapest billing software for a small shop in India?
The cheapest are free: Khatabook’s main app (it shows ads) and Vyapar’s free plan. The cheapest paid plans we found on the makers’ own pages in October 2026 are Vyapar Mobile at ₹699 to ₹799 a year and AsliBill at ₹1,299 a year; myBillBook’s Android-only Silver and AsliBill’s monthly plan are ₹199 a month. Tap & Bill Basic is also ₹199 a month plus GST (about ₹7 a day): not the cheapest, but it covers the owner plus 1 staff on phone and computer, paid month by month with no yearly lump sum.

Billing app prices in India (October 2026)
Each price below is what the company showed on its own website or app-store listing on the date given, sorted from the lowest yearly cost. Plans differ in what they include, so read the last column before comparing numbers.
| App and plan | Price as shown | Cost for 12 months | What the plan covers (as listed) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Khatabook (main app) | Free | ₹0 | Digital khata (ledger) with reminders; the Play Store listing says it contains ads |

| AsliBill Premium | ₹1,299 a year; also ₹799 for 6 months or ₹199 a month | ₹1,299 (₹2,388 if paid monthly) | App Store in-app prices; what Premium adds over the free app is not published |

Billing software under ₹1,000, ₹2,000 and ₹5,000 a year
| Budget for a year | Plans in that range (from the table above) |
|---|---|
| ₹0 | Khatabook main app (with ads), Vyapar Free |
| Under ₹1,000 | Vyapar Mobile Silver ₹699 and Gold ₹799 |
| ₹1,000 to ₹2,000 | AsliBill Premium ₹1,299 paid yearly |
| ₹2,000 to ₹3,000 | Tap & Bill Basic (₹2,818 with GST); myBillBook Silver or AsliBill paid ₹199 a month (₹2,388) |
| ₹3,000 to ₹5,000 | myBillBook Plus ₹3,490 and Pro ₹3,990; Vyapar Desktop + Mobile ₹4,399 and ₹4,799 |
| Above ₹5,000 | Tap & Bill Starter (₹5,988 + GST), Growth (₹11,988 + GST); myBillBook Pro Max (from ₹570 a month billed yearly) |
The honest reading: if price is the only test, a free app or a yearly mobile plan wins. At ₹199 a month, Tap & Bill Basic costs the same per month as the ₹199 monthly plans of AsliBill and myBillBook Silver, and more over a year than any yearly plan under ₹2,000.
What ₹199 a month gets you in Tap & Bill Basic
₹199 ÷ 30 days is about ₹6.6 a day. With 18% GST it is ₹235 a month, about ₹7.8 a day. A shop making 20 bills a day (600 a month) pays about 39 paise a bill, GST included.
- Billing on an Android phone and in any computer browser, on one shared shop account.
- The owner’s login plus 1 staff login; the owner sees every bill and staff-wise sales.
- Up to 1,000 bills / month: about 33 a day.
- Menu tiles with prices you can change on the bill (for bargaining) and a Quick bill keypad for any amount.
- Thermal printing (58 mm or 80 mm), and the bill PDF on WhatsApp from your own phone in one tap, free.
- Your UPI QR with the exact amount, split payment, udhaar, returns and exchanges with credit notes.
- GST tax invoice with HSN and CGST + SGST (or a plain bill if you have no GST number) and a GST report for your CA.
- Daily, weekly and monthly reports, galla (cash drawer) day close and Mol-Bhav Guard (a lowest price staff can’t go below without your PIN).
- Billing without internet on the Android app; bills sync later. App and bills in English, Hindi or Gujarati.
Not in Basic: automatic WhatsApp bills, WhatsApp sales report, bulk offers and stock & barcodes. Automatic WhatsApp bills and the daily sales report on WhatsApp start on Starter (₹499); bulk WhatsApp offers and stock with barcodes on Growth (₹999). See every plan on the pricing page.
Costs that are not on the price tag
- GST on top. 18% GST turns ₹199 into ₹235 a month. Ask every seller whether the price you see includes GST.
- Yearly lump sum. Yearly plans cost less per month, but you pay 12 months upfront. If the app doesn’t suit you after three months, ask what you get back (myBillBook’s pricing page lists a 7-day money-back guarantee). Tap & Bill is paid month by month.
- Renewal price. Many prices are shown against a higher struck-out price. Ask what the second year costs.
- Logins and devices. A plan for “1 user” or “1 device” means a second phone, a staff member or the counter computer needs a bigger plan.
- Bill limits. Some free and low plans cap bills, staff or companies. Tap & Bill Basic stops new bills after 1,000 in a month until you move up a plan.
- WhatsApp. Sending the bill from your own phone’s WhatsApp costs nothing. Bills that go by themselves the moment you save use the WhatsApp Business API, which costs money: on Tap & Bill it starts with Starter.
- Printer. A one-time cost: a 58 mm Bluetooth thermal printer was listed around ₹2,000 to ₹3,000 on 13 October 2026. Many shops start without one and send bills on WhatsApp.
- Ads and your time. Some free apps show ads (Khatabook’s Play Store listing says it contains ads). A slower bill at rush hour costs you customers, which is harder to see than a monthly fee.
- Leaving. Check that you can take your bills out as an Excel (CSV) file. Tap & Bill’s sales export from the web dashboard lists every bill line with the customer’s name and mobile.
When a free app is enough, and when ₹199 a month pays for itself
| A free app is enough if | A paid plan is worth it if |
|---|---|
| You make a few bills a day yourself | Staff bill too, and you want to see who sold what and at what price |
| You mainly need a list of who owes you | Udhaar, returns and exchanges come from bills and should stay linked to them |
| You don’t mind ads or limits | Customers expect a printed or WhatsApp bill every time, quickly |
| One phone is all you use | You want the same bills on the counter computer and on your phone at home |
An example of the sums, not a promise: if Mol-Bhav Guard stops one piece a month going ₹250 below your lowest price, or a WhatsApp reminder brings back one forgotten ₹300 udhaar, Basic has paid for itself that month.
Monthly or yearly: which costs you less?
Over a full year, a yearly plan is cheaper than paying ₹199 every month. Over a short time it is the other way round: three months of Tap & Bill Basic cost ₹597 + GST, and you can stop at any month. Try any app on its free trial first, with your own items and on your busiest day. Tap & Bill’s trial is 14 days, with every feature and no card.
